Detailed Itinerary
Day 1 - Dar es Salaam – Nyerere National Park
Depart early from Dar es Salaam by road (approx. 4 hours) or by flight (45 minutes) to Nyerere National Park. Upon arrival, enjoy an afternoon boat safari along the scenic Rufiji River—home to hippos, crocodiles, and abundant birdlife. As the sun sets, relax on the riverbank with a warm cup of coffee while watching wildlife gather at the water’s edge. Dinner and overnight at a lodge overlooking the river.
Day 2 - Full-Day Game Drive
After an early breakfast, set out for a full-day game drive across the vast wilderness of Nyerere National Park. With a packed picnic lunch, you'll venture deep into one of Africa’s largest and most unspoiled game reserves—home to an incredible variety of wildlife. Your experienced guide will take you to the best spots for wildlife sightings, while sharing insights about animal behavior, habitats, and the park’s conservation history. In the late afternoon, return to your lodge or camp for dinner and an evening at leisure.
Day 3 - Walking Safari + Village Visit (Optional)
Start your day with an early morning walking safari accompanied by an experienced ranger—an intimate way to discover the park’s smaller wonders and learn about animal tracks, plants, and birdlife. Return to the lodge by mid-morning for relaxation, or choose to visit the nearby Mloka fishing village for a glimpse into local life and culture.
Day 4 - Day 4
Return to Dar es Salaam: After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge, begin your journey back to Dar es Salaam. Depending on your travel preference, return by scenic road transfer or take a short domestic flight. Reflect on the unforgettable wildlife encounters and serene landscapes experienced in Nyerere National Park. Upon arrival in Dar es Salaam, you’ll be dropped off at your hotel, residence, or the airport—marking the end of your Southern Tanzania adventure.
